About

My name is Gen Xu, and I consider myself extremely lucky. Let me explain. My father graduated from medical school and now works as a licensed chiropractor and acupuncturist. My mother comes from a family of great cooks and knows how to create lots of delicious meals. Because of my parents’ fields of expertise, I learned from an early age that diet, nutrition and health go hand in hand.

When I was seven, the three of us left our home in Beijing, China, and came to the United States. When we first arrived, we were in for a bit of a culture shock, because one of the very first things we noticed was that…

A lot of the people here are fat!

This was a shock to us because in China, we saw, on average, one fat person every year (and I’m not talking about Santa Claus). Obesity is just not a big problem in Asia like it is here in the U.S. and other Western countries.

As we got settled in to our new home in New York, the initial shock we felt turned into complete and total understanding, as we realized just how bad the Western diet really is. In fact, according to Asian health principles (which are extremely accurate and have a history of nearly 5,000 years), almost everything about the Western diet is completely wrong. High carbs, high calories, high fat, high sugars, too much meat, processed foods, junk food – these only scratch the surface of the root of what is causing many health problems today. Is it any wonder that people here have trouble losing weight?

Luckily, my parents and I were well-versed in health and nutrition, and so we wholeheartedly rejected the Western diet. Even to this very day, we still follow the Asian diet, and more closely than ever. As a result of the choices we made, we have never had weight problems, stay in perfectly good health (we haven’t gone to a doctor in over 20 years, except for physical checkups), and we all look 5-10 years younger than our actual age. One time when I was 24, I was stopped on my way to the Asian health food store by a very nice police officer because he thought that I was skipping high school!

In contrast, I have many friends and family members who adopted a more “American” way of eating, with disastrous results. Weight gain was the least of their problems: some of them acquired diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, and liver problems.

After I encouraged them to go on the Asian Diet, they have been better able to keep their weight and health condition under control. But in other instances, the damage had already been done.

I personally believe that life is made up of choices. The choices you made in the past have determined who you are today, and the choices you make today will determine your future. Over 20 years ago, I made the choice to live a healthy lifestyle, and I will continue to make that choice. Others have not been so lucky to have made the same choice as I have. But it is never too late. Whatever mistakes you may have made in the past, you build your own future starting with the choices you make today.

After the people I know tried the Asian Diet and saw its incredible results, many of them begged me to write a book about it and share it with the rest of the world. They made me realize that the information I had was valuable. So I started this website, and wrote the book like they asked me to.

There is a famous saying: “If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten.” Are you happy now because of the choices you made in the past? Or do you want to make a new choice for a better and healthier tomorrow? Remember that an ounce of prevention today is worth a pound of cure tomorrow, and reflect upon this: When all the money in the world can’t bring you to good health, what do you have left?

If you’re ready to get started and make the right choice today, you can enter your information below to sign up for my free monthly newsletter. It has my latest recipes, as well as great diet tips and nutritional advice – all based upon the Traditional Asian Diet. Or, you can download my ebook, How to Lose Weight with the Asian Diet, by clicking on the link. I’ll wrap up this little introduction with one of my favorite quotes:

“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift – that’s why they call it the present!”

Here’s to wishing for your health and success!
